HypnoBirthing

So practicing relaxation is an important part of the way Kurt and I are preparing for Julianne's arrival.  It's a great way for me to let go, reduce stress, and to focus inward.  It gives us time as a couple to focus on our birth and helps me to feel supported and loved by Kurt's interest in practicing with me.

Before this week we've practiced in several different ways usually with me in a side lying position and Kurt talking me through relaxation and massaging my belly, back, feet, etc.  We've used guided relaxation tracks that our Bradley teacher sent us from Dartmouth College.  They were a good introduction to practicing with a cd guiding you to relax.  BUT, now we've upgraded to HypnoBirthing and I will NOT go back.

Oh. My. Goodness!  It's great!  I ordered this book from amazon when I ordered Oliver's christmas presents.  It comes with a cd in the back (which honestly is why I ordered the book at all).  I skimmed the first few pages of the book and got bored and skipped to listening to the cd.  I may go back and give the book another try but there are two tracks of guided relaxation on the cd.  I've actually only listened to the first track because I like it so much.  And I bet the second is just as good.  They are both about 20 minutes long.  I've only practiced with it 3 nights and I have achieved a deeper level of relaxation than I ever have before.

I am really excited to keep listening and working to achieve a deeper relaxation faster and more efficiently for birth.  I wanted to share with you too, because if you are pregnant, this is a MUST HAVE!  It is totally worth it!  And I can't wait to see how it impacts my birth experience!
